re: Week 2 Recap

0

Season is moving along at a nice pace. I blink and we are on week 4.  Week 2 did not provide much better action then week one. The trend so far seems to be for the most part if a team wins they win big. Not many close wins so far. Lets get into week 2 and see who is making some noise.

Pecan Sandees vs. The Drakes ( 2-0)

This game was just brutal for the Drakes and made it hard to watch.  Drakes suffered a bad string of injuries and knock outs this game that really left their team scraping by.  Rumor around the league is the High Elves were angry that the Drakes did not pick them again and sacrificed Snap and Crackle to Nuffle.  Pop apparently barely escaped with his life and is been given safe passage with the Halflings.  It seems to have worked.

In the first half alone the Drakes lost 5 people to injuries or KO's which allowed the Sandees to march down the field and cage up and score on turn 8.  This all happening while Drakes received the opening kickoff.  The orcs just bashed through the humans like they stole something.  The second half was not much better for the Drakes as Sandees received the kickoff and proceeded to take out 3 of the 6 humans left on the pitch with dazes.  While not injuries it left the Drakes with 3 people on his turn to move around.  Head coach of the Drakes Curtis had this to say after the game on the matter " I am not accusing anyone of anything but I am sure the league will be upping the PED tests for some of those black orcs".  Needless to say Sandees scored on turn 14 then proceeded with a onside kick and recovered the ball and was looking for a 3-0 win.  Drakes were scrambling to prevent the 3rd TD and even looked to the crowd o recruit some bodies for the pitch but nobody wanted to get on the pitch with those blood thirsty Black orcs.

Dusktown Defilers Vs. Chaos of the Arena (2-0)

This one had a tough act to follow up from game 1.  The first 4 turns had the ball bouncing all over the place and some costly rolls.  Right away on turn one we saw Chaos of the Arena show off that shiny curse of the Chaos by rolling against the line and getting attacker down and a both down only to re roll and receive the EXACT same options.  Wasting an entire turn and giving the Defilers a early advantage.  Follow that up with Turn 2 taking out a beastman and giving him a permanent -1 to his strength.  That is going to hurt long after this game is over.  Through all of that though Chaos managed to get the ball and attempt to move with it but along the sideline Dusktown creeped up and blitzed the ball carrier knocking it out of bounds and throwing it into the pitch right next to 2 of Dusktown's Elves.  Turn 4 Defilers went to run the ball in and failed a go for it and watched as the Elf slipped and fell to the ground. As he fell he was heard screaming "Oh no now my pretty pants got dirt on them".   Chaos never fully got a hold of this game and Defilers stil managed a score and grabbed another one in the second half.

Catching up with the coach of the Chaos and about starting the season 0-2 he replied with " We will look at the film for a little bit no more then a Minotaur two and move on"....  Could his mispronunciation be a tell of what is to come... Are the Chaos going to look to a beast to turn this season around? Come back next week on how the Arena turns to find out.

SkitterScratch vs. Tubby Pubebeards (2-0)

If you read week 1 recap well it is a broken record in week 2 with a few more rolls.  The Skaven again out bashed the chaos this time even using one roll dice 5+ times to knock down some of the Pubebeards.  Skaven got the numbers jump on the Beards and ran all over the field around the Beards leaving them dazed, confused and ultimately hurt.  Pubes had a opportunity to score early but instead rolled double attacked down followed by a re roll and double both downs.  The loner from the previous match injuries also gloriously failed and Pubebeards coach was seen on the sideline kicking a fan's baby every time one of his players went down.

Halftime speech from Skitterscratches coach was interesting as some say they heard through the walls him saying "Looks like the rat poison in their gatorade is working. Lets see how they like it".  Second half started with Pubebeards getting a blitz but not able to do much with it.  Rumor is Skitter recruited hall of fame blood bowlers Splinter to coach up some of his team on how to stay alive and dish out damage.  It seems to be working as scratchers cruised to a second victory without the help of their stormvermin who was out with an undisclosed injury and will be back next week.

Game of the Week

Guess who's back again vs. Cleveland Drudge (1-0)

This one gets the game of the week honors as it was also the only one that was actually a game.  Guess who's back again pulled off a victory but watching the game some have questions whether the Drudge were paid off to lose this game as they had many opportunities.  At the post game press conference coach of the Drudge just kept saying "We are on to The Drakes".  He repeated that sentence 34 times during the press conference and as he left the podium and coach who's back again entered the bumped into each other and a picture that has gone Viral seems to show coach of back again slipping something in the pocket of coach Lenny. Many have speculated this was payment for throwing the game and may even be in the form of fan factor.

Back again scored early moving his way down the field slowly and getting into the end zone with some time for Drudge to score.  With Drudge having 3 turns to score it seemed he moved sideline to sideline and was more concerned with getting out of the first half without an injury rather then putting his team in position for a shot.  The second half started with coach of the drudge and one of his lineman arguing over how the first half ended.  This is where some believe some of the orcs did not like the lineman's tone and thought the lineman considered himself better then the team.  Later in the game coach lenny was seen nodding to his black orcs and the black orcs moved away from said lineman to "protect the ball carrier" leaving him open to a mummy blitz.  Lineman was killed on the blitz and his un rested soul now joins the undead team.  The black orc interviewed at his locker just roared a lot and said "teeeeeeeaaaaaaammmmm" .

Coach Lenny has been known as a hard nosed coach who doesn't take any bullshit. It seems perhaps he sent a message to his team.....My way or the highway...

Week 2 MVP

Mac - Pecan Sandees

Mac could not be stopped this week. He racked up two touchdowns and a sweet 1 handed catch to run in his second TD.  Mac is this weeks blood bowl player of the week sponsored by
